TRANSPORT Symposium
Every year we host an annual interdisciplinary health disparities research symposium
where students, faculty, trainees, community based organizations, and community members
can present their work and network with experts in the field, while featuring innovative
research and new methodology. Faculty from each of our 5 colleges will be invited.
The symposium will include a keynote speaker who is an expert in the field of health
disparities, plus 3 – 5 additional speakers, followed by poster presentations by students,
trainees, and faculty.

Join us on Friday, March 28, 2025, at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University for the 8th Annual TRANSPORT Symposium!
This year’s theme, "Addressing Social Determinants of Health: Building Healthier Communities Together," brings together healthcare professionals, community leaders, and researchers to explore
the complex factors impacting health and wellness in diverse communities.
Highlights of the Symposium:
- Opening Remarks: Setting the stage with insights on social determinants of health.
- CBO Spotlights: Local Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) present on topics including economic
stability, healthcare access, neighborhood environments, education quality, and community
support.
- Interactive Breakout Sessions: Led by experts, delve into targeted discussions on specific social determinants
and collaborative strategies.
- Action Workshop: Engage with peers to identify actionable steps and partnerships to support health
equity in our communities.
