The mission of the Brooklyn Health Promotion Center (BHPC) is to advance health and
wellness in Brooklyn by fostering prevention, education, and innovation. Through collaborative
partnerships with SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, the Arthur
Ashe Institute for Urban Health, and the Office of the Brooklyn Borough President,
BHPC promotes healthier lifestyles, prevents disease, and supports sustainable health
improvement for all residents.

The Clinical Research Scholars Training (CREST) Program offers two phases of advanced training for clinicians and researchers committed to health. Phase I provides a structured curriculum through our accredited program, equipping scholars with essential skills in research design, methods, and policy. Phase II builds on this foundation, offering mentored, hands-on research experiences that strengthen scholarly output and prepare participants for independent research careers.
An enriching summer research program that provides junior faculty with didactic courses in health, neighborhood based participatory research, study design, working with and presenting data, research ethics, grantsmanship skills and academic career development.
