Here are some important things to remember about your insurance:

Downstate Health Physicians accepts most health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid.
Before scheduling your doctor's office visit, you should check with your health insurance provider to confirm the participation of your physician, and determine your benefits coverage, including what copayments, coinsurance or deductibles may be your responsibility.
If you are enrolled in a managed care group, such as an HMO or PPO, you might also need a referral from your primary care physician.
