UHB Appoints George Buckley, MBA, MPH as Executive Administrator for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation Medicine

George Buckley, MBA, MPHBrooklyn N.Y. (April 23, 2021) - SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is pleased to welcome George Buckley, MBA, MPH as Executive Administrator for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation Medicine at University Hospital of Brooklyn.

In his new role, Mr. Buckley will develop, implement, coordinate, monitor, and market new clinical initiatives for the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Rehabilitation Medicine at SUNY Downstate. He will oversee operational activities within the Musculoskeletal Service Line. Mr. Buckley will also implement programs that grow the market share, revenues, and profitability of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation Medicine. He will report to the Senior Vice President for Hospital Operations, Patricia A. Winston, MS, RN, NEA-BC, FACHE.

Mr. Buckley has an established record of accomplishment in clinical services operations, finance, and strategy, most recently serving as the Senior Program Manager in Clinical Services Operations and Finance at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) in Los Angeles, CA. In this role, he oversaw workforce management decisions for more than 4,500 clinical services staff. He utilized Lean Six Sigma tools to empower clinicians and staff and drive patient-centered, high-value, coordinated care.

Mr. Buckley received an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and an MPH from the Fielding School of Public Health in Los Angeles, CA, through a concurrent degree program and a BS in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Art History from Duke University in Durham, NC. He is a native of Long Island, where he now lives with his wife and one-year-old daughter. Like many, he hopes that this Knicks basketball re-build will come to fruition.
