Mandatory Ethics Training in February
By Department of Human Resources | Jan 27, 2026
Colleagues,
We’re offering more ways for all state-paid employees to meet the mandatory annual Ethics Training requirement. Below you’ll find details about a new in-person training on campus, as well as flexible online options.
Which training do you need to take?
- If you did not get trained last year, you must take live Ethics training now to satisfy your 2025 requirement. Then later in 2026, you will also need to take the Ethics Refresher.
- How? Live training is taken online via COELIG, or in-person on campus. See below.
- If you took your live CETC Ethics training in 2025, you’re eligible to take the Online Ethics Refresher Training. It’s required for everyone on alternating years, opposite live trainings.
- How? This is only taken online via COELIG. See bottom of this note.
Confused?
Ethics Training is a yearly requirement. That means that completing an overdue training for the 2025 calendar year today does not satisfy both 2025 and 2026 requirements.
Think of it this way: Ethics training is like filing your federal income taxes.
If you’re overdue to file your 2024 taxes, you still have to file your 2025 taxes.
In-Person Ethics Training at Downstate
In-person training is shifting from monthly to quarterly (thanks to the abundance of online dates offered by COELIG), and the first session of 2026 is now available:
Thursday, February 26 at 2:30-4:30 pm
Please register by emailing human_resources@downstate.edu and they wil send you a calendar invitation.
Can’t make either the in-person date? Take your training online, instead!
