Mandatory Annual HR Trainings

As a publicly funded institution, SUNY Downstate requires all state-paid employees to complete several mandatory HR trainings each year, in addition to any department-specific trainings.
To make this easier, here’s a quick guide to the four required HR trainings now available in HealthStream (including one new course):
1. Gender-Based Violence (Prevention of Domestic Violence)
Course Name: Gender-Based Violence and the Workplace – Policy Training (HR)
- Who: All state-paid employees
- When: Within 45 days of hire, then annually
- Time: ~15 minutes, self-paced
- Important: Complete the second module (short quiz – pass with at least 3 out of 5 correct)
2. ADA (Requesting a Reasonable Accommodation)
Course Name: Understanding the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) (HR)
- Who: All state-paid employees
- When: Within 90 days of hire, then every 3 years
- Time: ~15 minutes, self-paced
- Important: Complete the second module (quiz – pass with at least 5 out of 7 correct)
3. Title VI (Prevention of Racial Discrimination)
Course Name: Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (SUNY / HR)
- Who: All state-paid employees
- When: Within 30 days of hire, then annually
- Time: ~30 minutes, self-paced
- Important: Complete the second module (quiz – pass with at least 70%)

Finding Trainings: All assigned trainings appear in your To Do tab (except refreshers).
Certificates: HealthStream automatically records completion. Download your certificate for personal records.
