In honor of OSHA Safe and Sound Week, we extend our respect and gratitude to Downstate’s environmental health and safety teams: Environmental Safety & Regulatory Compliance and Hazardous Material Rapid Response.
Safety is the foundation for everything we do in a hospital. These teams keep our
facilities in compliance, manage hazardous materials, and respond quickly to any safety
threat. They keep our hospital safe by maintaining clean, hazard-free areas, disposing
of infectious waste properly, preventing chemical exposure, and training staff on
emergency protocols.
Their work protects patients, visitors, and staff so care can continue without interruption. By safeguarding the people and spaces that make healing possible, they ensure doctors, nurses, and all healthcare professionals can focus on saving lives.
