Welcome to The Office of Communication & Marketing

The Office of Communications & Marketing serves as the official advertising, branding and marketing voice of the college; promoting positive and consistent images for internal and external audiences. The office provides the dissemination of college news, and information about college-wide events that positively endorse the college's mission. From communications strategies that include public relations, advertising and marketing, to social media, creative graphic design and print production services. The office directs these efforts to effectively communicate with the college community and the public.

Marketing

  • Developing and executing marketing concepts aimed at attracting enrollments and enhancing the college's appeal to prospective students, and the general public
  • Producing marketing material that introduces the college to the high school population, general public and potential supporters
  • Serving as an outreach arm of the college and working in collaboration with the Offices of Enrollment Management, and Continuing Education, Workforce Development and Strategic Community Partnerships, in an effort to create greater awareness of the college within the community

Advertising

  • Developing advertising schedules, strategies, and advertising campaigns to provide strategic and creative direction and/or support
  • Strengthening awareness of the college's brand and identity, specific programs, and initiatives for departments that drive student enrollment and retention
  • Managing ad buys and placements for print, TV, radio and mobile advertising

Public Relations

  • Promoting key news and events involving SUNY Downstate and it's entities
  • Driving positive media coverage of SUNY Downstate
  • Providing strategic media and public relations consulting

Design & Production Services

  • Conceptualizing, designing, and producing print and digital materials
  • Proactively developing creative solutions and material that enhance the college's brand identity and marketing appeal
  • Coordinating, overseeing and producing the college's electronic publications and marketing collateral, including the annual report, flyers, stationery, brochures, business cards, invitations, banners, event programs/journals, and print and digital advertising
  • Providing guidance and purchasing recommendations on all aspects of print and electronic production support

Photographic & Video Production Services

  • Coordinating and maintaining a photographic library of faculty and staff portraits
  • Maintaining a digital photography gallery and photo archive of college events
  • Providing photography support for on-campus and off-campus events (as available)
  • Creating promotional video materials for admissions recruitment, student retention, fundraising, special events, and the college's website

Web Support Services

  • Website content development and design, including graphics and brand coordination for consistency
  • Providing non-technical maintenance of up-to-date information on the website
  • Creating content and graphics for academic and administrative departments and offices

Social Media

  • Monitoring and managing social media feeds and the college's social media presence on Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and Twitter
  • Writing and producing limited content and posting as needed
  • Maintaining social media communication with the broader public, students, and alumni with notification of news, events, job fairs, and more
  • Producing a bi-monthly e-Newsletter featuring events, personalities and developments that impact and/or promotes the college

 

Multimedia

  • Developing multimedia concepts for the dissemination of information within the college community and to the general public
  • Assisting administrative offices and academic departments in the development of multimedia informational presentations
  • Developing templates for use as tools for the dissemination of newsletters and other information media
