Immunization Requirements
All new and transfer students are required to comply with New York State and Downstate Health Sciences University immunization requirements. Proof of immunization is required by prior to matriculating at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University.
Students will not receive clearance to register or participate in any clinical activities until health forms are completed and current. An updated medical history and physical examination are required for re-enrollment after more than one year of attendance lapses. For re-admission after withdrawal for medical reasons, medical clearance by designated University health officials is required.
The requirements and reporting processes are found on the Medicat Student Portal.

A Note About Flu Shots
Flu season occurs during the fall and winter months and we strongly encourage you to get your flu shot as soon as possible. Since the strain of the flu virus changes every year, annual vaccines are needed.
Travel Vaccinations
It is recommended that those people traveling be up to date with routine vaccinations as well as receive those that are specific to the destination.
