Clinical Clearance Requirements
For your protection, a health clearance is required for every health science student. It is the responsibility of the students to ensure that the health clearances are done well in advance of the time that they are needed. Failure to present to the student health center in advance may delay your ability to receive your health clearance. This may result in starting your clinical rotation late.
Clinical Students
We recommend that students begin the process no later than 3 weeks prior to the first day of the rotation as it takes 2 weeks to be completed. Once your documentation is complete and you are cleared to work, you will be given access to the electronic medical record (EMR). Please wear your student ID along with the site specific ID at all times.
Hospital Clearance requirements vary. Clearance requirements may include:
- Student Notification of Program Requirements
- Health & Immunization/ Flu Vaccination/ COVID-19 Vaccination
- Criminal Background Check
- Student Disclosure Form
- Urine Drug Screening
- CPR/BLS
- ACLS
- Fingerprint Request
- TB skin tests
- Infection Control Training Certificate
- N95 Fit Testing
You will be notified prior to the start of your clinical rotation, if you must complete additional requirements. Email the site-specific coordinator for further guidance on the clearance process. Communication with the respective site-specific coordinator and your clerkship coordinator will save you time as they will help you with the onboarding process if issues arise.
