Rights

You have the right to know:

• The names of your school's accrediting and licensing organizations.
• About the school's programs; its instructional, laboratory, and other physical facilities; and its faculty.
• What the school's cost of attendance is, and its policy on refunds to students who drop out.
• What financial assistance is available, including information on all federal, state, local, private and institutional financial aid programs.
• The procedures and deadlines for submitting applications for each available financial aid program.
• How the school selects financial aid recipients.
• How the school determines your financial need. This includes how costs for tuition and fees, room and board, travel, books and supplies, and personal and miscellaneous expenses are determined. You also have the right to know what resources are considered in calculating your need (such as your parental contribution, other financial aid, assets, etc.).
• What awards you will receive, including the names of programs and amounts of awards.
• How much of your financial need, as determined by the school, has been met.
• How your financial aid will be disbursed, how decisions on that disbursement are made, and the basis for these decisions.
• What the interest rate is on any student loan you have, the total amount you must repay, the length of time you have to repay, when you must start repaying, and what cancellation or deferment provisions may apply.
• About your Federal Work-Study award: what kind of job you may get, what hours you must work, what your duties will be, what your rate of pay will be, and how and when you will be paid.
• That it is possible to have a reconsideration of your aid package, if you believe a mistake has been made, or if your enrollment or financial circumstances have changed.
• How the school determines whether you are making satisfactory progress and what happens if you are not.
• What special facilities and services are available to the handicapped.

Responsibilties

It is your responsibility to:

• Review and consider all information about a school's program before you enroll.
• Pay special attention to your application for student financial aid, complete it accurately, and submit it on time to the right place.
• Be aware that errors in your application will delay or prevent your receiving aid.
• Know and comply with all deadlines for applying or reapplying for aid.
• Provide all documentation, corrections, and/or new information requested by either the Financial Aid Office or the agency to which you submitted your application.
• Notify your school of information that has changed since you applied.
• Read, understand, and keep copies of all forms you are asked to sign.
• Repay any student loans you obtain, being aware that when you sign a Promissory Note, you are signing a contract stating you will repay your loan.
• Attend an entrance and an exit interview at your school, if you have borrowed in the Perkins Loan, Federal Subsidized or Unsubsidized Stafford Student Loan, Nursing Student Loan, Primary Care Loan, or Loans for Disadvantaged Students programs.
• Notify your school of any change in your name, address, or attendance status (half-time, three-quarter-time, or full-time). If you have loans, you must also notify your lender of these changes.
• Satisfactorily perform the work agreed upon in a Federal Work-Study (FWS) job. Understand your school's refund policy.
