Master's Completion Post Professional (MS)

The Schools of Health Professions and Public Health are proud to continue collaboration on the SUNY Downstate PA Master’s Completion Program. This program successfully com-menced in the spring 2020 semester, and is in response to longtime alumni interest in a home-grown MS post-professional program.

The PA Master’s Completion program provides the opportunity for Downstate PA graduates and other PA graduates who currently only possess the BS degree to attain the minimum entry Mas-ter’s degree adopted by the PA profession after the year 2020.

Structured as a joint program with the School of Public Health, our 30-credit completion pro-gram confers graduates with the advantage of acquiring public health epidemiological skills that are relevant to practice evidence-based medicine and to assume leadership roles as a PA.

This online program is also intended to accom-modate the busy working schedule of practicing PAs. The cost of this program is very afforda-ble; to defray tuition costs, graduates may take advantage of professional development funds from respective places of employment. This 30-credit MS completion program combines cours-es specifically selected to improve the clinical impact and marketability of practicing PAs along with a 15-credit block of courses designed to give graduates a solid foundation in the core public health disciplines.

It can be conveniently completed over an 18 – 24 month period or earlier and with the eventual thesis or master’s project tailored to a student’s area of clinical practice or public health interest.

All the courses will be completed via an online platform.

Students who successfully complete the PA Master’s Completion program will be awarded an MS degree and an Advanced Certificate in Public Health
