The Donald Scherl Faculty Excellence Award

Each year, the College of Health Related Profession acknowledges a faculty member who has demonstrated faculty excellence. The President Donald Scherl Faculty Excellence Award is presented to a member of the faculty who has demonstrated:

• Innovations in Teaching
• Professional and Community Services
• Contributions to the College and Medical Center
• Student Advocacy, Support and Service beyond student advisement

MaryAnne Laffin, RN, FNP, CNM, LM, MS, FACNM was the 2018 recipient.

Aleida Llanes-Oberstein , CNM, LM, MS, FACNM was the 2009 recipient.

Lily Hsia, CNM, PNP, MS, FACNM, Immediate past chairperson of the SUNY Downstate Midwifery Program received the prestigious Donald Scherl award from Dr. JoAnn Bradley. Professor Hsia was the first recipient of this award recognizing over 30 years of dedicated service and leadership to midwifery education.
