University Hospital (UHB) opened in 1966, is an 8 story, 376 bed tertiary care academic center that is the teaching and research facility of SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Although established to provide accessible, technologically advanced, tertiary care clinical services, UHB offers significant amounts of primary care, preventive services and education programs through the ambulatory care departments, community outreach and its patient education services. It is the preeminent point of academic medical access for underserved minority patients. The Hospital has 8 intensive care and step-down units, 12 operating rooms, and emergency services department, a diagnostic and ambulatory surgery facility, and ambulatory care center with some 75 clinics, plus 3 satellite Health Centers, a Regional Perinatal Center, the Children's Hospital at Downstate and a nearby Dialysis Center and Endoscopy Center. The hospital serves as a major training facility for 50 graduate medical education programs with close to 1000 residents and fellows.

The 520 bed Brookdale Hospital Medical Center is one of Brooklyn's largest voluntary, nonprofit teaching hospitals. The Radutsky Emergency Care Pavilion is a New York City certified Emergency Trauma Center. Brookdale's outpatient services include more than 40 general and specialty clinics, a community mental health center, and a 16-chair dental suite.
Other services of special interest include: an Ambulatory Surgical Center, Interventional Radiology, an Ambulatory Treatment Suite for chemotherapy patients; a full-service Heart Center; medical surgical, neonatal and pediatric intensive care units; inpatient and outpatient hemodialysis programs; a Women's Health Center for diagnosis and treatment of infertility (including laser surgery) and pre- and postmenopause syndromes, including osteoporosis; a full-service Department of Rehabilitation Medicine for both acute and long-term therapy; a full-service Geriatric Program that includes diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's Disease, a Genetics counseling and research unit; a complete Psychiatric Service including both inpatient and outpatient facilities, community education, an HIV outreach program, and home visits for the elderly and a full-service Hyperbaric Oxygen and Wound Healing Center.
The institution offers undergraduate clerkships and elective rotations to third and fourth-year medical students.
Brookdale has integrated programs with SUNY Downstate in Dermatology, Emergency Medicine, Cardiovascular diseases, Gastroenterology, and Orthopedic Surgery, other file standing residencies sponsored by Brookdale and fellowships are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. Coney Island Hospital, a municipal facility of the Health & Hospitals Corporation (HHC), is a 363 bed hospital at 2601 Ocean Parkway in southern Brooklyn. The hospital has ACGME-approved residencies in Internal Medicine and integrated/affiliated residencies in Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Anesthesiology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics and Urology. Kings County Hospital Center (KCHC) is a member of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation; and one of the largest municipal hospital facilities in the country. KCHC is located in Central Brooklyn and provides services to several culturally diverse communities.
KCHC is a Level I Trauma Center and the official training site for the United States Army Reservists Medical Staff prior to their deployment. KCHC has AIDS Center and Stroke Center designations; and has been recognized as a Center of Excellence for Diabetes Education and Parkinson's Disease. In addition, KCHC is also a Level III Perinatal Center. KCHC is a major academic affiliate of SUNY Downstate Medical Center.
KCHC operates 627 inpatient beds. In FY 2013, KCHC provided more than 145,000 emergency room visits, 580,000 outpatient clinic visits and over 26,000 discharges.

Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center, located in the East Flatbush section of Central Brooklyn, was founded in 1926 as a chronic care facility to serve the then Jewish Community within a cultural context. As the community has evolved and diversified, Kingsbrook has expanded its services and programs, to meet the needs of the large culturally diverse communities that it now serves and is now a large Medical Center comprising of an acute hospital, nursing home and rehabilitation center.
Kingsbrook is an 864-bed medical training institution, comprised of a 318-bed acute care hospital and a 538-bed adult and pediatric skilled nursing long-term care facility. In addition to its celebrated Kingsbrook Rehabilitation Institute, Kingsbrook's Centers of Excellence include Brooklyn's only NYS licensed Traumatic Brain Injury and Coma Recovery Unit, and a Geriatric Inpatient Psychiatry service, a premiere program serving the mentally challenged elderly throughout the borough. Kingsbrook has a large Department of Medicine that caters to all types of needs from the community.
There is a 54 resident free standing, accredited residency program in Internal Medicine that provides services to patients under the supervision of a large teaching staff. In addition, there are two other accredited programs in Orthopaedic Surgery and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, which provides similar services in their perspective specialties. There is also a 10 beds ICU and 10 beds CCU to support all the critical care needs of the Institution.
Currently, Kingsbrook sponsors three free residency programs and two SUNY Downstate integrated programs. Kingsbrook's graduate medical training programs are continually improving to provide an enhanced ambulatory care emphasis as well as competent and proficient healthcare providers.

Maimonides Medical Center is an urban acute care hospital providing emergency, primary, secondary and tertiary care services to the communities it serves. The history of Maimonides Medical Center spans more than a century. It was originally founded in 1911 as the New Utrecht Infirmary in the rural settlement called Brooklyn. Brooklyn would eventually become New York City's largest borough and one of the largest cities in America with a population of over 2.3 million. Maimonides as we know it today was a product of a 1947 merger of two hospitals, Beth Moses and Israel Zion Hospital. It is a not-for-profit, non-sectarian, voluntary hospital affiliated with the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies.
Maimonides is located in the Borough Park section of Southwestern Brooklyn. With 24 fully accredited residency and fellowship programs, over 1000 full-time and voluntary faculties; over 480 residents and fellows and approximately 800 medical student rotations per year, it is one of the largest independent academic medical centers in the United States. It is a major teaching affiliate of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, the State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn and the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, providing valuable clinical experiences for medical students.

Richmond University Medical Center (RUMC) is a Level 1 Trauma Center located in Staten Island New York, established January 2007. It is an academic affiliate of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. The original hospital on the site, St. Vincent's Hospital, was opened in 1903 as a 74-bed facility under the direction of the Sisters of Charity of New York. Current hospital is licensed for 470 beds. To complement Richmond University Medical Center’s overall mission to pursue the highest quality of patient care, the Graduate Medical Education Department is responsible for providing organized educational residency program dedicated to guiding and supervising residents’ professional and personal development as physicians in an environment which ensures safe and appropriate care for our patients. The VA New York Harbor Healthcare System (NYHHS) was formed in January 1999 with the integration of the Brooklyn VAMC and the New York VAMC. NYHHS is part of the twenty-two Veterans Integrated Service Networks (VISN) that exist nationally and one of the 144 medical centers and health care systems in the nation. NYHHS belongs to VISN 3 which includes five medical centers and health care systems located in the southern New York and New Jersey area.
The Brooklyn Campus is located at the southern end of Brooklyn, facing the Narrows at the entrance to New York Harbor and in the shadow of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. The facility stands on property deeded to the VA from the Fort Hamilton Army Garrison in 1947. The medical center was dedicated on February 12, 1950 as a 1000-bed facility.
The Brooklyn Campus presently has a 150 bed in-patient service in acute medicine, surgery, psychiatry and residential substance abuse and sees over 300,000 outpatients each year. The medical center has 111 resident and fellow trainees in a broad spectrum of clinical program including internal medicine, general and vascular surgery, emergency medicine, cardiology, pulmonary and critical care, infectious diseases, nephrology, endocrinology, rheumatology, hematology/oncology, dermatology, pathology, orthopedics, ophthalmology, urology, otolaryngology, radiology, radiation oncology. Specialized clinical programs exist in comprehensive cancer care, non-special expertise in palliative care and radiation oncology. It has an active and productive basic research program.
