Research Opportunities, Education & Training

Disaster Preparedness Fellowship brochure

Education without mentoring is not learning. Our goal at The Division of Disaster Preparedness is to provide SUNY Downstate students, residents and staff, a challenging yet nurturing environment to conduct research in our field. To do so we provide faculty mentors.  The outcomes of these symbiotic connections have been research presentations at major national and international academic conferences as well as publications in distinguished medical journals.

Our faculty mentors work closely with individuals embarking on research projects to fulfill their requirements for academic programs like the SUNY Downstate Masters in Public Health. Our students and fellows “learn by doing” with guidance from faculty mentors and commitment to their own research projects.  Follow through, and integrity to the process, are also qualities we ascribe to, and look for, when we mentor candidates.
