Welcome

The Office of Administration provides management and oversight for services that are critical to the daily operations of the institution. Divisions that fall under the umbrella of the Office of Administration include Comparative Medicine, Facilities Management & Development, Information Services, and Planning.

The Office also provides leadership and direction for a wide range of initiatives and processes that cross over multiple Downstate departments. These have included:

Space planning and management
Development and implementation of institutional policies
Planning, management and rate setting for employee parking
Oversight and communication of changing policies and guidance during the COVID-19 pandemic, including implementation, tracking and reporting of vaccinations on campus.

Heidi Aronin, MPA

Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer

Heidi Aronin is Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer and Institutional Official for Research for SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University and leads the Office of Administration. She has wide-ranging experience managing operations at public and non-profit agencies in health and human services and has held leadership positions at a number of academic medical centers in New York City.

Keisha Lightbourne, JD, MHA

Assistant Vice President for Management Operations

Keisha Lightbourne is the Assistant Vice President for Management Operations. Prior to this position, she served as the Administrative Director of Comparative Medicine at Downstate. Ms. Lightbourne has a broad range of experience working in healthcare and research compliance. She also has a background in agile and lean management along with Master of Health Administration and Juris Doctor degrees.

Al-Nisa Reid-Jenkins, MPA

Assistant to the Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer

Al-Nisa Reid-Jenkins is the Assistant to the Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer and Institutional Official for Research, for the SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. She serves as the gatekeeper and primary source of administrative support for the Office of Administration. Prior to this position, she served as the Senior Staff Assistant to the Chief Strategy Officer in Hospital Administration for the SUNY Downstate University Hospital Brooklyn. As an administrative and project management professional, Al-Nisa has extensive experience supporting C-Suite executives for various healthcare and research organizations. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration and a Master’s degree in Public Administration.
