Congratulations to Marie-Claire Roberts, Ph.D., MS, MPA, RN, Executive Vice Dean, Downstate College of Nursing, and Executive Director of the Center for Simulation, for earning a place as a Fellow in the inaugural SUNY Nursing Simulation Fellowship for the 2024-2025 academic year! This impressive recognition celebrates Dr. Roberts’ exceptional leadership in education and simulation-based learning within the healthcare professions.

SUNY Chancellor John B. King, Jr. launched the SUNY Nursing Simulation Fellowship to address New York State’s critical healthcare workforce shortage by enhancing simulation-based nursing education. The initiative supports Governor Hochul’s ambitious goal of increasing the state’s healthcare workforce by 20 percent over the next five years.

Dr. Roberts secured this competitive fellowship through her unmatched expertise and leadership in simulation education. As a Fellow, she will lead efforts to expand simulation-based learning at Downstate and across SUNY campuses. She will contribute to the SUNY Shared Resource Library and oversee simulation projects supported by a $20K grant awarded to the College of Nursing under her direction.

With more than 24 years of experience in nursing and healthcare education, Dr. Roberts has consistently advanced simulation-based learning. She has spearheaded initiatives bridging academic and clinical settings, fostering interprofessional collaboration, and creating safe, effective learning environments emphasizing excellence, teamwork, and patient safety.

This fellowship highlights Downstate’s pivotal role in advancing healthcare education and its continued commitment to innovation. Congratulations, Dr. Roberts, on this well-deserved honor and for shaping the future of nursing education!
