Women's History Month
This Women’s History Month at Downstate, we are delighted to showcase a special video featuring two distinguished female leaders in our community, Betty Jung, RN, ILDA, and Sarah L. Marshall, DNP, MS, RNP, from our Center for Community Health Promotion.
Celebrating Thank A Resident Day
Resident physicians nationwide are celebrated for Thank a Resident Day on the last
Friday in February. As a critical element of graduate medical training, residency
provides deep exposure to medical practice, often leading to long hours and significant
responsibilities. Residents play integral roles on healthcare teams, providing care
to hundreds of thousands of patients each year. They are also essential resources
for medical students, especially during a clinical clerkship.
At Downstate, residents provide care and dedicated support to our patients and their
families. The Brooklyn community is better because of the care these dedicated and
passionate physicians provide.
Celebrating Social Workers Month
Social workers play a crucial role in healthcare settings by providing essential support and services to individuals and families facing various challenges. They assess patients’ needs, develop care plans, connect them with needed resources, and offer emotional support. They help patients cope with illness, disability, or loss and assist them in making difficult decisions about treatment options and end-of-life care.
