School of Public Health Welcomes Biostatistician Dr. Cong Jiang

 We extend a warm welcome to The School of Public Health as it announces the appointment of Cong Jiang, Ph.D., to the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics.

Dr. Jiang earned his doctorate in statistics from the University of Waterloo and completed postdoctoral training in biostatistics at the Université de Montréal and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

His research combines causal inference and machine learning to strengthen clinical and public health decision-making. His work explores adaptive treatment strategies, causal mediation analysis, data fusion, and the application of evidence across studies. He has applied these methods to vaccine effectiveness, infectious diseases, HIV, tuberculosis, smoking cessation, comparative effectiveness research, and precision medicine.

Dr. Jiang looks forward to collaborating with colleagues across Downstate, mentoring students and trainees, and advancing research that connects statistical innovation with real-world health challenges. He thanked Vice Dean Tracey Wilson, Interim Department Chair Elizabeth Helzner, and Dean Kitaw Demissie for their confidence and support.
