Student Occupational Therapy Association (SOTA)

Mission Statement

SUNY Downstate’s Student Occupational Therapy Association Chapter intends to serve the Occupational Therapy student body by fostering an environment for professional development, community service projects, and meaningful opportunities for advocacy in the Downstate community. The E-Board of this organization is also responsible for the development of new initiatives that focus on professional networking and mentorship for the OT student body. SOTA strives to meet these efforts by running a variety of events throughout the year that are educational, extracurricular, and beneficial to our community through teamwork.

SUNY Downstate SOTA Executive Board and Duties

Jamie Siegert

President

Facilitates and oversees all actions of E-Board officers
Establishes student organization goals with collaborations of E-Board
Leads monthly E-Board meetings
Encourages communication, conflict resolution and collaboration between team members

Jasmine Namyotov

Vice President

Assists and collaborates with President for all actions of student organization
Assumes duties and responsibilities of President when the President is absent or unable to fulfill duties

Karla Pennetta

Secretary

Records minutes at the E-Board monthly meetings and coordinates location and timing of all events
Takes attendance for all meetings
Responsible for Event reports of all student organization events

Giovanna Coleman

Treasurer

Manages and budgets student organization finances
Purchases all supplies for student organization events

Lauren Ramirez

Creative Director

Manages all student organization social media
Creates all digital marketing material for promotion of events

Jenny Li

Inter-cohort Coordinator

Responsible for all coordination of 1^st and 2^nd year Occupational Therapy students
Responsible for mentor-mentee pairings
