Mission Statement

The Department of Surgery at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is pleased to announce the iNSPIRe (CliNical Science Program for Independent Research) initiative.

iNSPIRe is a clinical and health services research program with vision to:

• Contribute, thoughtfully and rigorously, to the scientific community and literature.
• Safeguard the ethical principles of research among individuals.
• Support and facilitate interdisciplinary, collaborative research – with the understanding that quality research in a team effort.
• Invest in the research education and advancement of medical students, residents, and those expressing good faith curiosity and interest in research.
