The School of Health Professions

The Department of Pediatrics is pleased to provide clinical education and experience in pediatrics for students of the School of Health Professions Physician Assistant Program. In addition to a 6 week clinical clerkship in Pediatrics for all PA students, the Department's faculty gives a series of core lectures in important topics in pediatrics. During their clerkship, PA students work alongside medical students and residents learning from hands-on patient care, supervision and teaching from senior residents, fellows, and attending faculty in general pediatrics and subspecialties.

The School of Public Health

The School of Public Health Initiative is the newest program at the SUNY Downstate Medical Center. It is also the first School of Public Health at a public university in New York City and the first new school at Downstate since 1966. The Department of Pediatrics is pleased to provide education and experiences to students of the School of Public Health through a number of our clinical programs. For example, Public Health Program students can rotate through the Children's Obesity Program, Downstart, High Risk Neonatal/Perinatal Services or the Pediatric Asthma Center of Excellence. In addition, several members of the Department of Pediatrics faculty also serve as faculty in the School of Public Health.
