Dry Eye Service

diagram of dry eye symptoms

More than six million Americans suffer from dry eyes, and the number of symptomatic individuals is increasing as our population ages. For patients with dry eyes, early evaluation and treatment is important to prevent ocular surface damage before it occurs, as well as to relieve discomfort.

Successful treatment depends on complete evaluation of the patient and potential treatment modalities based on the specific etiology identified. Ocular lubricants are the mainstays of therapy, but punctal occlusion, repositioning of the eyelids or, occasionally, conjunctival transplants may be indicated.

Because work or lifestyle conditions can exacerbate dry eye symptoms, our experts often prescribe a daily regimen individually tailored to control the dry eye disease.
