Research
We hold monthly research meetings on the second Friday of each month, open to residents throughout their five years of training and attended by all faculty of the division. Each resident is required to complete a quality/performance initiative (QI, PI) project as part of their ACGME requirement. Residents are additionally encouraged to participate in research projects and other related activities. Several ongoing projects are available to trainees. Many residents also participate in projects through the departments of Pediatrics and Adult Neurology during their years of training. Some residents have completed an advanced certificate or Masters in Public Health through the Downstate Health Sciences University. Finally, SUNY Downstate maintains a comprehensive Research Foundation inclusive of an IRB committee, biostatistics and librarian support.
