Some of Our Research Initiatives
The overall focus of our research is on the neuropathophysiology associated with neurodegenerative disorders. Our research focus has expanded over the years from prion diseases and Alzheimer’s disease (AD) to acute and chronic traumatic brain injury (TBI).
Dr. Gustafson’s Neuroepidemiology program focuses on vascular risk factors with an emphasis on adiposity, the aging brain (cognition and brain imaging), and frailty in aging underrepresented and global communities.
BRAINS: Bringing Recognition & Awareness To Inner-City Neighborhoods About Stroke. This is a survey-based study looking to determine the change in stroke knowledge with age.
