Residency Application Guidance

Students will make important decisions during their fourth year. Those decisions will significantly impact where they will train as residents. To make the most informed decisions about their graduate medical education, it is critical that they obtain as much valid and reliable information as they can. This website is meant to give students the tools they need to be successful in matching for residency.

The Clinical Advisory Deans (CADs) assigned in the third year, are the students’ main source of support during the residency application process. CADs approve students’ senior schedules as they pertain to the specialty they are applying to; CADs review personal statements and the ERAS application, assist students with residency program selection, and monitor students’ interviews. Additional resources for students are the specialty advisors in the clinical departments as well as staff in the Career Advising Office.
