Our Mission
The goals of the Downstate Employee Assistance Program are to improve the health and well-being of our employee, reduce the impact of personal and job-related problems on employee productivity, offer supervisory and administrative staff workshops and information on assisting employees with problems, to support Downstate policies for maintaining a safe and healthy workplace and, to work closely with the EAP Advisory Committee, and the New York State Employee Assistance Program to serve our employees and maintain good relations with labor and management.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Manager
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is led by Dr. Magda Alliancin, who serves as the NYS EAP Program Manager and Wellness Ambassador for SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. In this role, she is dedicated to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and mentally healthy workplace environment for over 4,000 employees across campus and satellite locations. Dr. Alliancin provides confidential assessments, information, referrals, crisis intervention, and tailored support services that address a wide range of employee concerns, including mental health, workplace stress, grief, domestic violence, substance use, and family challenges. As EAP Manager, she collaborates closely with campus leadership, union representatives, and external providers to ensure timely and compassionate support. She also leads wellness initiatives, facilitates wellness workshops, and coordinates outreach events. Her work is guided by a strong commitment to confidentiality, cultural sensitivity, and holistic care, empowering employees to thrive both personally and professionally.
