Dr. Sanya Goswami Receives 2024 SCOPY Award for Screening Initiative

Sanya GoswamiCongratulations to Sanya Goswami, M.D., a 2024 graduate of Downstate’s Internal Medicine Residency Program, on receiving a 2024 SCOPY Award from the American College of Gastroenterology! Dr. Goswami was honored with Best Resident Initiative in Improving Screening for her impactful work, The Unique Role of Residents as Patient Care Navigators on CRC Screening Rates in the Primary Care Clinic.

The SCOPY Awards (Service Award for Colorectal Cancer Outreach, Prevention & Year-Round Excellence) recognize ACG members for their outstanding contributions to community engagement, education, and awareness in colorectal cancer prevention. Dr. Goswami’s achievement highlights the vital role of residents in advancing patient care and preventive screening. Well done!


Dr. Sanjeev Agarwal Shares Expertise on Advancements in Pain Management

Sanjeev ArgawalSanjeev Agarwal, M.D., Interim Division Chief of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Director of Interventional Pain Management, was a featured speaker at the New York Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation’s March meeting. Dr. Agarwal delivered an insightful lecture on “Low Back Pain, Common Procedures, and Advancements in Interventional Pain Management,” highlighting the latest techniques and innovations in the field.

Tade Souaiaia, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Cell Biology, was a panelist at the Abolishing Racism Conference hosted by the Bahá’í Chair for World Peace at the University of Maryland. Excellence in Data Science, Research, and a Passion for Public Health

Moyouri Bhattacharjee, MPH, is a data scientist based in New York City with a strong background in biological sciences and public health research. She earned her degree in Biological Sciences from Cornell University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences in 2015 and remains actively engaged with the Cornell alum community. She volunteers with organizations such as the Cornell Alumni Ambassador Network (CAAAN), the Cornell Asian Alumni Association (CAAA), and the NYC Cornellians Regional Club.

While at Downstate, Dr. Bhattacharjee collaborated with medical students and fellows on research presentations, showcasing her dedication to advancing scientific knowledge. Her work has also been published in academic journals, reinforcing her commitment to research, data-driven insights, and public health advocacy.
