President Riley

Dear Downstate Community,

During this month of March, we celebrate those pushing boundaries in medicine and research, reaffirm our commitment to accessible care, and look ahead with optimism.

Women’s History Month celebrates the remarkable women shaping healthcare, research, and education. Their leadership and innovation drive progress at Downstate and inspire future generations. This month, we’re hosting a special event where a panel of dynamic Downstate women will share insights on leadership, career growth, and balancing responsibilities. Join us for a thought-provoking discussion on the challenges women continue to navigate and the impact of meaningful conversations in driving change.

Our #KeepCareClose campaign continues to highlight the importance of local healthcare. As we launch the next phase, we are excited to feature familiar faces who embody our mission. This campaign isn’t just a message—it’s a movement to ensure our community receives the care it deserves close to home.

Last month’s Black History Month event was a powerful reminder of the resilience and leadership shaping the fight for health equity. History teaches us that action, advocacy, and collaboration drive meaningful change in times of uncertainty. We carry that lesson forward, knowing progress depends on our collective commitment.

Despite national funding challenges, Downstate remains at the forefront of research and discovery. Our researchers have strong records of innovation, and we are actively forging partnerships and securing new opportunities to fuel groundbreaking advancements. The discoveries we make today will shape healthcare for generations to come.

Hope isn’t just looking ahead—it’s taking action to create the future we envision. Together, we will build, innovate, and push forward, ensuring our work today strengthens the healthcare of tomorrow. Thank you for your dedication, resilience, and commitment to progress.
