Patient Safety & Quality Fair Grows in Success

Congratulations to the committed individuals, teams, and all participants in UHD’s fourth annual Patient Safety and Quality Fair. This successful platform allows our UHD healthcare professionals to showcase their innovative ideas aimed at enhancing patient care and safety while also discussing projects geared toward improving existing policies, processes, and practices.

Attendees and participants were treated to a dynamic experience filled with engaging speakers, poster presentations, interactive games, and an inspiring keynote presentation delivered by Downstate Alumnus Paresh Shah, M.D., Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

With nearly 50 impactful posters highlighting advancements in the quality and patient safety, four outstanding oral presentations showcasing innovative projects, and engaging breakout sessions covering critical topics like High-Reliability Organizations (HRO), Health Equity, Nursing Quality Projects, and TJC, the fair continues to be a source of learning, sharing, and pride where a diverse range of individuals participants delved into strategies for delivering the utmost quality of patient-centered care.

A special thank you to Dr. Shah for delivering a critical talk on “Quality and Patient Safety in a Changing Landscape, and panelists, UHD Chief Executive Officer David H. Berger, M.D., MHCMYair Saperstein, M.D., MPH, Founder & CEO of avoMD, James Colbert, M.D., MBA, Chief Medical Officer, Memora Health, and David Kaufman Ph.D., FACMI, Clinical Associate Professor for their enlightening discussion on the impact of AI on healthcare and patient safety.

I extend my appreciation to the Patient Safety and Quality Fair coordinators for their meticulous planning, to all the participants of the poster competition whose innovative projects highlighted advancements in patient safety, process improvement, and quality enhancement initiatives. Thank you to UHD leadership, including Dr. Berger and Patricia A. Winston, DNP, MS, RN, NEA-BC, FACHE, Senior Vice President for Hospital Operations, Rami Nakeshbandi, M.D., MHA, FACP, Chief Quality Officer, and Jameela Yusuff, M.D., MPH, MSHCDL, FACP, Chief Medical Officer for their continued support of this program and success in improving patient care and safety.
