Orthopaedic Surgery Department Celebrates One-Year Milestone in Expanding Speech and Language Pathology Service
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation Medicine for reaching the noteworthy milestone of one year of revitalizing and expanding its Speech and Language Pathology services.
Under the guidance of the leadership team in Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation Medicine, and with the expertise of speech-language pathologists David Inzerillo, MS, CCC-SLP, Alexandra Lovric, MS, CCC-SLP, and Tatiana Garcia, MS CCC-SLP, Rehabilitation Services have reinstated a comprehensive array of speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing evaluations and treatments.
Since August 2023, both outpatient and inpatient Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies have made their return. These highly sought-after consultations offer comprehensive swallowing assessments and imaging services to a diverse adult and pediatric patient population throughout the broader Brooklyn community. Through collaborative efforts with Harry Zinn, M.D., from our Department of Radiology, alongside our dedicated X-ray Technologist team and esteemed speech-language pathologists, we have successfully conducted over 100 adult and pediatric MBS studies, setting a new record for the hospital!
And as recently as December 2023, the team successfully conducted an MBS on the youngest patient in the hospital’s history, a mere one month old!
