On September 9, 2023, the University Hospital at Downstate and the Residency Programs Coordinators Forum (RPCF) at the State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Health Sciences University will host a Community Health Lifestyle Health Fair.
We have designed an event for the entire family to come out and spend the day with us as children and adults partake in health education activities; enjoy free snacks, beverages, and a healthy meal; and take advantage of free health screenings and entertainment activities.
About
The Community Healthy Lifestyle Fair is a free community event, sponsored by the Physicians of University Hospital at Downstate (UHD) and Residency Program Coordinators Forum (RPCF) in collaboration with the Offices of Graduate Medical Education, Government Relations and Strategic Planning in conjunction with the Diversity Equity Inclusion House Staff Council, and the Brooklyn Children's Society.
In September of every year, the UHD/RPCF Health Fair Committee and Health Fair organizers, volunteers, clinicians, students, staff, and sponsors create an educational and memorable experience on Healthy Living/Lifestyle for the Downstate community.
Participants receive information on healthy lifestyle medicine–including presentations, blood pressure screenings, breast and prostate cancer screenings, pediatric screenings, vision screenings, serum blood tests, access to community resources, yoga classes, cooking demonstrations, and more, from renowned UHD physicians and ancillary staff members.
Children play games, receive backpacks and school supplies, enjoy a DJ, and take advantage of a rock-climbing, 360-photo booth, short videos, and other fun activities.
Fairgoers receive healthful and nutritious lunches and snacks. Lucky individuals will win raffle prizes, big and small, to create an educational and fun-filled day for the entire family!
Additionally, the UHD/RPCF Lifestyle Fair honors each year those who made significant impacts in the lives of the Downstate Community.
We are excited and look forward to another year of hosting this amazing health fair and experience!
