Celebrating Our Officers on Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

On January 9, we come together to celebrate our law enforcement officials for all their hard work and putting their lives on the line on a daily basis to help keep us safe. Our nation began to recognize Law Enforcement Appreciation Day in 2015, which was founded by multiple organizations who joined together to show appreciation for officers in the United States. One of the main organizations, Concerns of Police Survivors, encourages citizens to thank their police officers on this day in support of their services.

Here at Downstate, our University Police Department (UPD) helps us maintain a safe and secure campus environment.  Their efforts offer a resilient and supportive community that helps us educate, research, and heal. The UPD monitors Downstate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to ensure a quick response for all emergencies. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for all that you do at Downstate for our students, faculty, staff, patients, and visitors. Our appreciation for you is immeasurable.
