Graduate Medical Education put its people and its future in focus during a week that paired appreciation with professional development.

From August 3 through 6, the Residency Program Coordinators Forum hosted its third annual Program Coordinator Appreciation Week. Residency program coordinators gathered in person and virtually to connect, celebrate their work, and recognize the role they play in keeping Downstate’s residency programs running day after day.

The week continued on August 7 with the sixth annual GME Educational Retreat. This year’s theme, “Strong Minds, Smart Tools: Advancing Innovation, Leadership Through Excellence,” brought faculty and staff together for workshops, conversations, and networking focused on medical education, leadership, and new approaches to their work.

It was a fitting combination: time to recognize the people behind our programs and time to think together about where graduate medical education goes next.
