    Background and Expertise:

    Since his arrival in 2017, Dr. Shields has emerged as an integral part of Resident Training Program here at SUNY Downstate Health Science Center. He is currently Director of Service at Kings County Hospital with a special interest in Endo-Urology and Stone Disease to Central Brooklyn. His commitment to resident and medical student education is underscored by his leadership in structuring the “basic surgical skill workshop” for our junior residents and rotating students. Dr. Shields has the crucial post as Clerkship Director for all students rotating on the Urology service at Downstate.
