Bethany Desroches, Sc.M., M.D. was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She earned her Bachelor of Science (Sc.B.) in Molecular Biology and her Master of Science (Sc.M.) in Artificial Organs, Biomaterials, and Cellular Technologies from Brown University, where her graduate research focused on three-dimensional cell culture and engineered microtissues. She received her Doctor of Medicine from SUNY Downstate Medical Center before completing her urology residency at Baylor College of Medicine, and a fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Robotic Urologic Surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center.

Dr. Desroches is an Assistant Professor of Urology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, where she serves as Associate Program Director, Director of Education and Curriculum, and Director of Surgical Simulation for the Urology Residency Program. She is also the Director of Minimally Invasive and Robotic Urologic Surgery at Kings County Hospital.

Her clinical practice focuses on robotic and minimally invasive urologic surgery, endourology, and the management of complex stone disease. Her academic interests include surgical education, simulation-based training, physician leadership, and the integration of innovative technologies into surgical practice. In recognition of her dedication to resident education, she was named SUNY Downstate Urology Educator of the Year in 2026.

Drawing on her experiences as a surgeon, educator, and residency leader, Dr. Desroches enjoys sharing practical strategies for developing effective leaders, fostering resilient teams, and building cultures of excellence in medicine. She is passionate about mentoring the next generation of surgeons and advancing excellence in patient care through education, innovation, and collaborative leadership.
