Dr. Patrick Hammill graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School. He completed a general surgery internship and received his radiology residency training at SUNY Downstate Medical Center where he was chief resident. Dr. Hammill pursued further subspecialty training in abdominal imaging with Dr. Jeffrey Newhouse at Columbia University. He is board certified.

Dr. Harry Zinn is a board certified radiologist specializing in Abdominal cross sectional imaging. Dr. Zinn graduated from Yeshiva University in NY City. He subsequently moved to Philadelphia to attend the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Medicine where he obtained his medical degree. Dr. Zinn completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Long Island Jewish Medical Center and a Radiology residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.

Dr. Zinn's academic and clinical focus is in Abdominal MRI and CT. He has authored or co-authored over 30 papers in peer reviewed Radiology journals and presented at the national meetings of the Radiological Society of North America and American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.

He has received recognition as an outstanding educator as SUNY Downstate's Radiology teacher of the year in 2005-2006. Dr. Zinn currently holds an appointment as an Assistant Professor of Radiology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and works as an attending physician at the University Hospital of Brooklyn.

Dr. Chaudary is a Board Certified Radiologist. She joined the Breast Imaging Division in January 2007. Preceding this, she was briefly at the New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn as the Director of Women's Imaging. Before Methodist, she was at Victory Memorial Hospital in Brooklyn for seventeen years, where she served as the Chief of CT Division, Lead mammographer, interventional and general Radiologist, as well as the associate director.

Dr. Chaudary resides in Belle Mead N.J. with her husband Abdul Rehman and son Zubair, surrounded by members of her extended family. After the birth of Zubair in 1987, Dr. Chaudary felt the need to stay close to home and worked at JFK Hospital in New Jersey, till July 1989.

Dr. Chaudary graduated from the King Edward Medical College, Pakistan, in 1973 and was amongst the top 10% of her class. She passed her ECFMG exam during her final year at Medical School and did one year of OB-GYN internship at Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Center in Karachi, Pakistan.

Following her immigration to the United States, Dr. Chaudary did a Residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, and served as the chief resident during her final year. In 1978, she did a CT/SONO fellowship at the Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn. Here, she stayed on as an attending and then as the Chief of CAT Scan Division till 1988. While at Long Island College Hospital, Dr. Chaudary developed a passion for teaching, which she has a chance to continue now.

Dr. Waite graduated from Cornell University Medical College in 1998. He did a residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Lenox Hill Hospital from 2000 - 2004 and a fellowship in Cardiothoracic Radiology in 2005 at the University of Maryland.

Dr. Waite works at KCHC and SUNY Downstate primarily in cardiac and chest radiology where he works with radiology residents in addition to cardiac and pulmonary medicine fellows.

Hyman Shwarzberg, MD has been the Director of Radiology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center University Hospital of Brooklyn (UHB) since 2005. He has been in a leadership position in Radiology for 12 years. He is an accomplished diagnostic radiologist with expertise in breast imaging, neuro-imaging, pediatric, abdominal and chest and cardiac imaging, MRI, CT, sonography mammography, and radiography. He is responsible for ongoing oversight of daily UHB radiology operations to enhance the capabilities and resources and was involved in implementation of PACS and teleradiology. He has worked to improve Emergency Department CT patient flow and standardize additional appropriate studies and worked to tighten oversight and ongoing QC documentation to assure meeting regulatory requirements. He manages the UHB radiology professional schedules and Radiology Peer Review program. He consults on cases involving general, cardiothoracic imaging, abdominal/pelvic imaging, Neuro-imaging, pediatric radiology, mammography and breast imaging. He has also worked to upgrade MRI capability to enable additional applications and patient volume; he was involved in the initiation of the stereotactic breast biopsy program at UHB.

Dr. Samin holds a faculty position in Downstate since 1987. He attended Hadassah - Hebrew University Medical school in Jerusalem and graduated 1979. Dr. Samin completed his radiology training in SUNY HSC Syracuse 1983-1987 and received Board certification in diagnostic radiology in 1987.

As a director of the section of Gastrointetinal Radiology for over 20 years, Dr Samin has trained a large number of radiology residents in the performance of a wide spectrum of GI procedures, including, more recently, CT Colonography. He actively participates in the teaching of medical students as well as residents in a number of courses and weekly clinical conferences.

Dr. Michael Herskowitz is board certified radiologist with a certificate of added qualification in interventional radiology. He attended the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey followed by an internship in internal medicine at St. Luke Roosevelt Hospital. Dr. Herskowitz subsequently completed a residency in radiology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center followed by a fellowship in interventional radiology at St. Michael's Medical Center in New Jersey. Dr. Herkowitz has over 19 years of experience in interventional radiology, serving as the division chief from 1983 through 1988.

He teaches residents during interventional cases at both SUNY Downstate Medical Center and Kings County Hospital Center, participates in surgical and medical conferences, and gives monthly department lectures.

Dr. William Kwon specializes in Interventional Radiology. He graduated medical school at SUNY Downstate, and then did a residency in Diagnostic Radiology at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School. After completing a fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at Mt. Sinai Medical Center, he returned to SUNY Downstate to join the faculty as a Clinical Assistant Professor. He is currently the Affiliate Residency Program Director for the Brooklyn VA Hospital site. He has a strong interest in resident and medical student education. His clinical interests include peripheral vascular intervention, interventional oncology, hepatobiliary intervention, and non-invasive vascular imaging.

Dr. Liu, a true product of Brooklyn, was raised here and went to SUNY Downstate for Medical School after completing the 7 year BA/MD program at CUNY Brooklyn in 1994. He stayed at SUNY Brooklyn for his Diagnostic Radiology Residency. After his IR Fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia in 2000, he returned to Brooklyn and has happily been on staff at SUNY Brooklyn since 2004. He is a long time resident of Park Slope.

Dr. Kolla graduated from SUNY Downstate Medical College in 2001 and went on do his internship at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. He did his Diagnostic Radiology residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn. His fellowship was in Musculoskeletal Imaging at University of California, Los Angeles.

Dr. Kolla returned back to his medical school to join as a faculty member in the Department of Radiology in July 2007. His clinical interests include diagnostic musculoskeletal imaging, conventional and MR arthrography, musculoskeletal ultrasound, and image-guided bone and soft tissue biopsies.

He is actively involved with resident and medical student teaching. He has won the Radiology Teacher of the Year Award for 2007-2008 at King's County Hospital and for 2008-2009 at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.

Dr. Kolla's research interests are in bone/soft tissue tumor imaging and sports injuries.

He works both at Downstate and at Kings County Hospital.

Dr. Arnold Strashun, Director of Nuclear Medicine at Kings County Hospital and University Hospital since 1987, was appointed Radiology Residency Program Director in November 2000. Dr. Strashun also directs Radiology Research for the department, as well as the Radiology Quality Assurance program.

Born in Houston, Texas, he attended University of Texas (BA '70), Baylor College of Medicine (MD '74), trained in Internal Medicine (ABIM '77), and Nuclear Medicine (Mt. Sinai, NYC, ABNM '79). His contributions include numerous scientific papers in nuclear cardiology and the neurosciences. He has served as Chairman of SUNY Downstate Centerwide Committee of the Faculty, President of the New York Academy of Medicine Nuclear Medicine Section, and is currently a Trustee of the Society of Nuclear Medicine. He serves as Chairman of Education and Training for the Society of Nuclear Medicine and is a member of the Executive Editorial Board of the Journal of Nuclear Medicine. He was again recognized by New York Magazine in 2001 as one of NYC's Best Physician.

Dr. Zeshan Chaudhry is a board certified radiologist who specializes in Neuroradiology.

Dr. Chaudhry received his medical degree from Allama Iqbal Medical College at the University of Health Sciences, Lahore, graduating with top honors. A clinical research elective with Professor Pascual-Leone in the Berenson Allen Center for Noninvasive Brain Stimulation at Harvard Medical School ignited his interest in brain imaging, where he studied the clinical applications of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation in chronic pain and depression. After a short spell at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, he joined Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School for a clinical research fellowship in Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology with a focus on the imaging and endovascular management of acute stroke.

His post graduate training in diagnostic radiology was at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. He was awarded the RSNA Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award in 2017. He completed an academic Neuroradiology fellowship at Stanford University in California. In his second year he was appointed as a clinical instructor in the Stanford University School of Medicine. He returned to SUNY Downstate to join the faculty as a Clinical Assistant Professor in Radiology and as staff Neuroradiologist at Kings County Hospital.

Dr. Chaudhry has authored or co-authored numerous publications in peer reviewed journals, multiple book chapters, and over 50 scientific abstracts and educational exhibits at national and international meetings. His clinical interests include the imaging of acute stroke, inflammatory diseases of the brain, and brain tumors.

Craig earned his BS with High Distinction in Engineering Science at the University of Virginia in 1978-82, his MD from the Medical College of Virginia in 1982-86. He trained in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of South Florida, including serving as chief resident in 1986-90. He continued with a fellowship in Neuroradiology at George Washington University in 1990-91. He was invited back to serve on the faculty at University of South Florida in 1991. He continued there through 2007 as the primary teaching neuroradiologist for residents and medical students, with intervals as associate and program director, including numerous teaching awards. He joined LICH/SUNY in 2008.

His career long focus has been on quality heath care, patient safety, and education, with promotion to Clinical Professor in 2018.

Deborah L. Reede, MD, was appointed professor and chair of the Department of Radiology in July, 2013. Dr. Reede has been a member of SUNY Downstate's faculty since 1988. Most recently, Dr. Reede served as chair of the Department of Radiology at LICH and director of the radiology residency program.

Dr. Reede received her MD degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University. Her post-graduate training in radiology took place at SUNY Upstate and New York University Medical Center, where she completed her residency and did a fellowship in head and neck radiology.

Dr. Reede is a leading expert in head and neck radiology. She served as president of the American Society of Head and Neck Radiology in 1997-1998, and, in 2012, received the organization's highest honor, the Gold Medal Award.

Dr. Rhonda Osborne received her MD degree from SUNY Downstate Medical center in 1986 and her postgraduate training in Radiology from Harlem Hospital Center. At Harlem Hospital, she completed her residency and served as chief resident. She followed with a fellowship in cross-sectional imaging at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center where she specialized in Ultrasound.

In November 2013, Dr. Osborne was appointed to the position of Radiology Residency Program Director at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Prior to this, she served as the Chief of the Ultrasound Division at Long Island College Hospital from 1992 to 2013, and the Associate Program Director of the Radiology Residency Program from 2005 to 2013. She has been a member of the SUNY Downstate faculty since 1992.

Dr. Steven Ostrow is a magna cum laude graduate of Brown University (BA) and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons (MD). Dr. Ostrow was appointed Director of Undergraduate Education within the Department of Radiology after completing his residency at Downstate and obtaining ABR certification in radiology. An excellent educator in the tradition of Dr. Lucy Squire, Dr. Ostrow was named "Outstanding Educator of the Year of the Clinical Faculty" by the 1998 graduating class. In 2000, he was awarded faculty membership in Apha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. In 2001, he was named "Teacher of the Year" by the class of 2003 for his efforts using radiology to teach gross anatomy to this class when they were first year students. In 2002 he was again named “Outstanding Educator of the Year of the Clinical Faculty” by the graduating class of the College of Medicine. In 2006, he again received the “Teacher of the Year” award from the first year class of Medical Students (Class of 2009). Dr. Ostrow also serves as the primary faculty adviser for medical students applying for radiology residency, and as a faculty mentor for first year medical students. He holds a joint appointment on the faculty of the Department of Cell Biology (formerly the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology). Dr. Ostrow also has special training in Ultrasonography and is actively involved in this clinical service.

Brian Gale, MD, M.B.A. graduated from SUNY at Buffalo School of Medicine. He completed a residency in Nuclear Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Diagnostic Radiology at New York Medical College and a fellowship in Body Imaging at The New York Hospital – Cornell Medical Center, currently known as New York Presbyterian Medical Center. Dr. Gale earned an MBA in Finance at Columbia University Graduate School of Business. He is the SUNY Downstate Department of Radiology Director of Radiology Informatics.
