In 2016, Dr. Rahman was appointed to serve as the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) at the University Hospital at Downstate (UHD). In this capacity, he is involved in various activities involving our electronic health record (EHR). He works closely with our Information Technology (IT) Department in facilitating clinical staff’s involvement in EHR and patient care. He also provides lectures to our trainees and faculty on clinical documentation, improving workflow to comply with CMS-mandated quality metrics and incentives such as MIPS and Meaningful Use.
Upon Dr. Rahman’s completion of his undergraduate studies and medical education, he joined SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University as an intern in the Department of Medicine in February of 2001. After completing his residency and chief residency in 2004, he was selected to join the Division of Hospital Medicine as an attending physician at UHD. Over the years, he served in different capacities including as director of the Hospitalist Service and currently serves as the Vice-chairman for inpatient services in addition to his current role.
