Dr. Elmira Mostafidi is a board-certified anatomic pathologist and dermatopathologist. She serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pathology and the Associate Pathology Residency Program Director for Anatomic Pathology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. Additionally, she serves as Dermatopathology faculty, directing clinical oversight and coordinating fellow training.

Dr. Mostafidi earned her Medical Doctorate and completed her initial Pathology Residency Program at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences in Iran. She subsequently completed an ACGME-accredited Anatomic Pathology residency at SUNY Downstate, where she served as Chief Resident. Following her residency, she completed a rigorous Dermatopathology Fellowship at the Ackerman Academy of Dermatopathology (Dermpath Diagnostics).

Her clinical and diagnostic focus includes neoplastic, inflammatory, and melanocytic skin pathology, as well as complex consultative dermatopathology. A dedicated medical educator, Dr. Mostafidi actively teaches, supervises, and mentors medical students, pathology residents, and dermatopathology fellows in both clinical practice and collaborative research.

Furthermore, her academic work strongly emphasizes collaborative clinical research and the advancement of patient-centered pathology reporting.
