Loraine Antoine, PT, DPT, PhD is a graduate of the Downstate PT program from the Class of 2006. She then went onto obtain her DPT degree at Temple University in 2009. Dr. Antoine has also obtained her PhD in Higher Education Administration - Educational Leadership in 2022. Dr. Antoine joined us as a full-time Assistant Professor and DCE in the summer of 2016. Prior to that, she served as an adjunct instructor in the Downstate PT program from 2009 until her full-time appointment. Dr. Antoine has worked in a variety of settings, including acute care, acute inpatient rehabilitation, and outpatient at NYU Langone Health (Tisch and Rusk), Visiting Nurse Service of New York, Sports Physical Therapy of New York, and NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases/Orthopedic Hospital. Presently, she is the owner of RAINE Physical Therapy and co-owner of Revolution Physical Therapy NYC, through which she works privately with patients requiring musculoskeletal physical therapy. As the DCE, Dr. Antoine is interested in research that is related to clinical education. Her aim is to collaborate with members of the NY/NJ Clinical Education Consortium to investigate problems related to physical therapy clinical education. She is also interested in research on how to increase minority awareness and involvement in the world of health professions, especially physical therapy, and research related to burnout and job satisfaction of chairs, faculty, and staff at academic health centers. Dr. Antoine is involved in all clinical courses, including Introduction to Clinical Practice, Clinical Education I-IV, and Grand Rounds I-IV. She also teaches in Professional Development I and Physical Therapy Examination I and II.
