Laura Park, MS, OTR/L, CHT is an assistant professor in the Occupational Therapy Program
at SUNY Downstate. She earned her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from SUNY Binghamton
University, and her master’s degree in occupational therapy from SUNY Downstate Health
Sciences University in 2021.
As a Certified Hand Therapist, Laura has extensive experience treating complex upper-extremity
conditions across the lifespan. She has practiced in outpatient settings throughout
Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Long Island, with a focus on serving underserved communities
in New York City. Her teaching focuses on bridging connections between foundational
sciences and clinical applications.
With a background in athletics, she integrates she aims to help students not only visualize but also feel how movement translates principles of embodied movement into her pedagogy, encouraging students to engage with biomechanics through both intellectual understanding and lived, physical experience into function, injury, and rehabilitation. Her goal as an educator is to foster curiosity and internal motivation, supporting students in becoming self-directed learners who continue to grow throughout their careers.
