Amal Amar-Alattaby graduated from the Stony Brook Midwifery Program in 2009 and received her doctorate in midwifery (DM) from Jefferson University in 2023.
Academic responsibilities:
The Midwifery program Clinical Site Coordinator; Course coordinator and Instructor for Antepartum Care, Antepartum Complications, Preexisting Conditions Complicating Pregnancy, Reproductive & Sexual Health , Essentials of Midwifery Management, Health Care Policy and Community Assessment; Clinical Site Liaison.
Background and Expertise:
Dr. Amal Amar-Alattaby is an experienced Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) with over a decade of experience in women’s healthcare. Dr. Amar has a strong foundation in the midwifery model of care and is committed to improving patient outcomes through comprehensive and compassionate care. Dr. Amar has extensive experience in both clinical and academic settings, having worked in various hospitals and private practices in New York, with significant roles in leadership, teaching, and mentorship.
Contributions to the Profession:
Amal has served as the Director of Midwifery and Advanced Practice Nursing in Women’s Health at NYU Langone Brooklyn Hospital, where she supervised and directed clinical services. She has been involved in promoting prenatal care and fostering teamwork among healthcare professionals. She has also made valuable contributions to midwifery education, working as an adjunct faculty clinical instructor at NYU Meyers College of Nursing. Amal's volunteer work includes outreach programs focusing on health promotion and disease prevention in minority communities, particularly the Arab-speaking population in Brooklyn, and efforts to create a baby-friendly environment through breastfeeding education.
Her expertise, leadership, and commitment to women's health have been recognized with the American College of Nurse Midwives Outstanding Preceptor Award in 2020
