    Dr. Scott Ippolito has been a part-time member of the Family Medicine faculty since 1990. His activities at SUNY Downstate have focused on clinical teaching of both residents and medical students. He has been a regular preceptor for the residents during their continuity clinic in Suite B and at Family Health Services throughout his time with this institution. He also served as preceptor for the course, "Introduction to Continuity of Care", a clinical elective experience for first- and second-year medical students. Dr. Ippolito's first involvement with the Department of Family Medicine was as the Faculty Development Fellow in Women's Health, during 1989-1990. OB/GYN is one area of particular focus in his teaching activities with the residents.

    Dr. Ippolito earned the Doctor of Medicine degree in 1986 from Ross University School of Medicine, and he completed a three-year residency in Family Practice at Jamaica Hospital in Queens, New York. Dr. Ippolito was founder and director of the Family Practice Residency Training Program at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center from 1993 until 1996, when he became Chair of the Department of Family Practice at St. John's Episcopal Hospital in Queens, New York. In 2000, Dr. Ippolito was named Chair of the Department of Family Practice at South Nassau Community Hospital in Oceanside, New York (Long Island). Dr. Ippolito remains a committed, reliable and valued faculty preceptor in our Department of Family Medicine.
