Charles Harewood, MD

Dr. Charles Harewood has been a part-time member of the faculty of the Department of Family Practice since 1980. During his time at the Health Science Center, Dr. Harewood has served as preceptor to first and second year medical students in the elective, Introduction to Continuity of Care. He also precepts residents.
Dr. Harewood received the Doctor of Medicine degree from SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in 1976. He completed a three-year residency in Family Practice at Lutheran Medical Center in 1979. Dr. Harewood is currently a community attending physician practicing full-time, and is on staff at Lutheran Medical Center and University Hospital at Downstate. His practice includes pre-natal and obstetric care. He sets the model for obstetrics in Family Practice for Brooklyn. Dr. Harewood's other professional activities have included consultation work with the Catholic Childcare Society and voluntary service as a ship's physician and member of the Medical Affairs Committee of the Floating Hospital.
Dr. Harewood was awarded the Dr. George Elliot Liberman Master Teacher in Family Medicine Award in May 2001.
