Dr. Wood, MD, MHPE, FACEP is a clinical assistant professor and attending physician in the department of Emergency Medicine at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Dr. Wood earned her medical degree at The Mount Sinai School of Medicine and completed her residency training via the Mount Sinai-Elmhurst EM residency program, where she developed a strong interest in medical education and simulation. She completed her medical education fellowship at Maimonides Medical Center and earned a master's degree in Health Professions Education from the NYU Grossman School of Medicine.
Dr. Wood previously served as an assistant program director for the NYP-Queens Emergency Medicine residency program where she worked on initiatives to promote the treatment of substance use disorders and organized the EM residency curriculum and journal club. She joined the SUNY Downstate Department of Emergency Medicine in 2023 where she serves as a member of the Downstate College of Medicine Academic Promotions Committee and is teaching faculty for the medical school and EM residency programs.
In addition, Dr. Wood is an active member of the ACEP wellness section and the pain management & addiction medicine section, with continued research interests in resident and medical student education, physician wellness, and substance use disorders.
