Dr. Ranjita Raghavan joined Downstate as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine after completing a Global Emergency Medicine Education Fellowship at University of California San Francisco – Fresno in partnership with Emergency Medicine: Reviews and Perspectives, a leader in emergency medicine education.
Dr. Raghavan has experience supporting multiple emergency medicine training programs globally and is especially passionate about creating a culture of continuing education after residency using multiple educational modalities. She works with Médecins Sans Frontières supporting education for clinicians throughout Africa and the Middle East and doing similar work with the non-profit Techies Without Borders helping clinicians from Papua New Guinea create continuing education practices.
Dr. Raghavan also has a passion for quality improvement and patient safety after serving on both the Root Analysis and Clinical Quality Review Committees during residency. Dr. Raghavan holds a Medical Degree from the University of Southern California and a B.A. in Neuroscience from the same institution. She completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
