Dr. Sabnam Shakya, MD is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. She completed a Critical Care Fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, following a Pulmonary Fellowship at Harlem Hospital Center, where she also served as Chief Fellow. Dr. Shakya completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Harlem Hospital Center, where she was Chief Resident, and earned her medical degree from Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences, Nepal. Her clinical and research interests include pulmonary diseases, critical care, and quality improvement, with a focus on COPD, asthma, Interstitial lung disease (ILD), lung nodule and lung cancer. She is an active member of the American Thoracic Society, CHEST and the Society of Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Shakya has contributed to hospital-wide projects such as Project Red, aimed at reducing readmissions for COPD and heart failure patients, and has published in peer-reviewed journals such as CHEST.
