
Angelika C. Gruessner, MS, PhD, FAST

After getting a PhD degree in Theoretical Medicine and Biostatistics from the Ruprecht-Karl University in Heidelberg, Germany, Angelika Gruessner moved to the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis where she worked in the division of outcomes research and transplantation for over 20 years. She was promoted to full professor at University of Arizona. In 2017, she came to SUNY Downstate.
Over the years, her clinical and research focus was on all aspects of organ transplantation. Her research work resulted in over 600 peer-reviewed publications and presentations. She was elected to be a counselor for the International Pancreas and Islet Transplant Association and is a fellow of the American Transplant Society.
At SUNY Downstate, she also concentrates on the design, data collection, analysis and presentation of medical experiments, clinical studies and randomized clinical trials in diverse medical fields. Based on this work, she developed and teach courses in research and biostatistics for medical students, residents, and staff.
