Susan Grossman, MD

Dr. Susan Grossman has been involved in resident and student education since she finished her fellowship and joined the faculty at the New Jersey Medical School (now Rutgers Medical School) in Newark NJ in 1982.  She has spent her medical career striving to create environments where residents can become doctors who provide outstanding care to patients from all backgrounds and who can advance the course of the medical profession.

She was program director at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Staten Island from 1995-2011, then program director at Woodhull Hospital from 2011-2020.  At both institutions she was actively involved in resident and medical student education. She developed innovative programs to enhance meaningful clinical education for residents and received a number of grants related to improving both education and evaluation.  At both New York Medical College and NYU she achieved the level of Professor of Clinical Medicine.

Dr. Grossman is now a full-time nephrologist at the Brooklyn VA and also the site director for the SUNY Downstate School of Medicine nephrology fellowship. She is also the Deputy Associate Chief of Education for the New York Harbor Veterans Health Care System.
