Dawn S. Walker, MPA, specializes in healthcare, higher education, government, and non-profit communication strategy. She currently serves as vice president of Communications & Marketing at SUNY Downstate, where she directs communications, public relations, and marketing efforts.

Previously, Walker oversaw communications at Kingsborough Community College and Medgar Evers College. Prior to working in higher education, she was a deputy press secretary to New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. She is also a founding member of Women’s City Network, an organization committed to mentoring women engaged in public service.

Walker received a BA in Communications from The State University of New York at Old Westbury and an MPA from The City University of New York Baruch School of Public Affairs.
